While fashion outlets in La Verne may be hard to find sometimes, a new fashion hot spot has opened one city over, in San Dimas. Yesenia Guzman, owner of the small boutique, Aniche, had a desire to bring Melrose’s fashion to San Dimas. Inspired by European fashion, Yesenia is transforming her boutique into a fashion must for residents of San Dimas and surrounding communities. Aniche is a fun, chic boutique for the everyday woman, whether she is a career woman, college student or mini-van mother. Aniche’s warm atmosphere makes a shopper feel like she’s walking into her own hidden closet filled with the latest fashion trends, from leggings to oversized jewelry. Imitating the look of the chain store Urban Outfitters, Aniche makes you feel like you are in your bedroom trying to find something to wear. Large armoires on either side of the store show spring and summer dresses. An old-fashioned coat rack near the armoire displays more dresses. Clothes are hung on wooden coat hangers, which gives the rack displays a rustic look. Colorful purses are hung on a wooden post in the middle of the room. Jewelry is arranged on the checkout counter in small boxes. Even the dressing room is relaxing, with large purple curtains and a single mirror in the middle of the two changing areas.
Summer fashion is in full swing at Aniche. Many of the clothes are inspired by the 1960s and 1970s, with bright colors and styles. The retro look at Aniche can be found in a variety of oversized jewelry, or in the colorful, oddly shaped buttons on the clothing. Retro summer tops, like a brown empire waist shirt with green and yellow pot-a-dots, are also a great buy.
With warm weather upon us, summer dresses are one way to stay cool. Aniche offers a variety of choices, from long and flowing to short and strappy. The uniqueness of the dresses is in the different prints and styles. Aniche has a dress for every print lover, from polka-dots to stripes and even crochet. The variety of dress style cuts Aniche offers makes it easy for the shopper to find a dress that will flatter her body type. Finding a dress for any occasion won’t be a problem either because Aniche even carries evening wear. Designs in black, leopard print, and darker colors are plentiful.
“I have bought a couple of dresses from here, and the quality is really good for how inexpensive the dresses are. The clothes are really well made,” says San Dimas resident Markie Dobis, a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles.
Aniche also has accessories, including jewelry, belts, hats, scarfs, headbands and purses. The handbags and purses are unusual, and the brands vary. “Suzie” is a popular purse brand at Aniche and makes purses that catch the eye. “Suzie” purses are full of interesting designs and colors: for example, a teal and black leopard print handbag.
Aniche has the uniqueness of a boutique at “Forever 21” prices. Affordable, trendy, chic boutiques like Aniche are hard to find.
“I am a University of La Verne student but I live in San Dimas,” says Suzanne Riker. “I kept driving by Aniche and seeing the clothes with all the bright colors outside. I decided to check it out. I was surprised how much I liked the clothing.”
Aniche stocks new items about every two weeks, and the owner always welcomes newcomers. Aniche is located at 1397 Arrow Highway in San Dimas, in the Stater Bros. shopping center, right next Super Cuts.
